374-7 This is the site of the infamous missile explosion on 9/19/80. My roommate Pat Tallman was injured in the blast and one airman was killed. Although I didn't really know SrA. David Livingston he gave his life for his country. The movie "Disaster at Silo Seven" does a reasonable job of describing the events of that day minus the love story and power play bull. Filmed at the Titan museum, it's a trip back in time for us ex-Titan guys and B-grade acting for everyone else. Some might say David's death was a waste because we weren't at war but I'm pretty sure most of us who lived it would tell you otherwise. It was very serious and dangerous business. We didn't think about the danger much but 4-7 still reminds me to this day of what we really did. Service to my country is my proudest accomplishment |
